Wurm Online
A Minercaft clone this is not. And if that is what you are looking for, this game is not for you. We tried wurm online and boy did we have fun. Wurm online has everything that we wanted in an online game. It had a very original sandbox environment, RPG elements, and continuing playability. We had started off as a group of 3 with nothing, and just grew from there.
The Good:
Knowing that there was a thriving economy for just about everything that you do, we didn't waste any time. We set up a warehouse to store the stuff we make and we had a working farm so we could eat and live. We had also build our very own boat to get our goods all across the many servers that you could access. Furthermore, the building process took time, a lot of it in fact. At first that seemed like a bad thing, but after building many things for the warehouse, our appreciation for what we had became greater and we took pride in all of our hard work.
The Bad:
It wasn't all easy sailing though. There were faults that we found were too much to get over. First, the level cap is too small for us budding new players. We could not level our skills past 20, and in most cases, that prevented us from doing as much as we would like to have done. Second, creatures went extinct. On our server, dragons and chickens were both long gone and there was no way to get them back to our server. Thirdly, The town that we joined would not allow us to do everything that we wanted. In anticipation for one of us going premium, we wanted to build a boat house by the water to make bigger boats. The people of the town would not let us for some unknown reason, and since starting our own town is out of the question, we gave up. Lastly, there is not a very large concentrated player base. We want to go big or go home in the traditional [QF] style. This was nearly impossible with the large, spread out player base.
The Ugly:
The characters.
Without a doubt, this game has the ugliest character models I have ever seen. There is no getting over it. There is no fixing it. They are just ugly.
The Summary:
In summary, this game was fun and we enjoyed it while it lasted. I myself would consider playing if the player base increased. The overall build times, mixed with its clunky UI are a bit of a hurdle for most gamers to try and overcome. But once we gave this game a deeper evaluation, we found that these hurdles were easy to get over.
Overall, this was a very fun game, but unfortunately, unless some changes are made, we will not putting our [QF] stamp of approval on this game any time soon.
